Ideas:
1. Oystercards: will be purchased for use by staff on business trips within the London travel zone area. The cards will be available for staff at the PCT HQs in Wimbledon travelling to carry out PCT business during the day as an alternative to using the private car, taxis or paying full fare (turn-up-and-ride) on public transport. Dependent on the outcome, a case would be made for the PCTs to extend the use of the cards by adding credit and additional promotion of their availability. Staff using the cards would be surveyed for their view and suggestions.
2. 100 pedometers: would be purchased by each PCT and would be used to incentivise initiatives such as the NHS 2012 challenge, walk to work week, Exercise Referral Programme, Physical Activity Clinics, Health Exhibitions and so on. The intention is that the pedometers would be registered to individual users who would be encouraged to return them for use by someone else once their initial benefits had been realised
3. Waking Kit; the intention is to provide a emergency kit for those travelling on foot. This is specifically aimed at those making lengthy journeys on foot and not just to get to e.g. a local station in inclement weather. The likely contents of the kit would be an umbrella, spare laces, spare socks, pedometer, etc.
4. Incentive tokens: To purchase gift vouchers to be used as incentives to promote or reward participation in various active travel activities.
